In short
A fictional promotional film for L’Atelier Horloger Lyon, capturing the 1966 Blancpain Fifty Fathoms for auction.
Context (the brief)
L'Atelier Horloger Lyon had the honor of receiving an exceptional watch, the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, for which we were tasked to promote. Historically worn by Captain Cousteau's team during the filming of his famous documentary The Silent World, this watch represents a part of the history of underwater exploration. To pay tribute to this, we chose to include excerpts from an interview with Cousteau in our project.
Creative process & concept
This studio shoot gave us the opportunity to experiment with various techniques to enhance the texture and atmosphere of the film. We notably projected images of underwater scenes onto an LED screen to create an immersive set and used video projection to magnify the reflections on the dial and the chrome elements of the watch.
The main challenge of this project was in the limited time we had to capture our footage: only four hours of shooting. Therefore, meticulous preparation beforehand was essential to optimize every shot.
Finally, this film aims to strike a balance between a stimulating technical challenge and a narrative faithful to the heritage of this exceptional watch.
